We live in a world where anything is up on the internet in the blink of an eye, but it is almost impossible to remove it from there. With the advent of social media, people’s privacy has gained unprecedented publicity, so it’s hard to draw the line sometimes – what should be posted on the Internet and what should not. In the life of a young athlete, this is exponentially true, as not only disapproving headshakes, but careers and sponsorships are at stake.
That is why the MOL Foundation has asked us to compile an online presentation that not only describes the dangers, but also provides practical tips for the successful use of social media. Besides the dangers, these platforms provide an excellent opportunity to gain recognition, collect followers and build a personal brand. We’ve given a few tips to the audience regarding this, showing them real-life examples how to consciously build social media profiles. Of course, TikTok was also mentioned, which – especially for this age group – is an unavoidable factor today, although we still know little about how it works, so it requires special attention.
Our social media business unit leader, Feri, who is a true veteran of this topic, was responsible for the theoretical part. Most of the practical examples were brought by Olympian swimmer Nándor Németh, who was able to give guidance to young talents, parents and coaches based on his own experience. We hope the course held at Teams has achieved its goal and the participants have learned a few tricks that they will be able to use in practice.
