We have almost forgotten how beautiful our office is! It’s a bit quiet these days, the empty reptile terrarium and the chairs loaded on the table in the kitchen both speak of abandonment. It all started in March 2020, saying goodbye with a “see you in a couple of weeks anyway” – back then we had no idea how far we were from the truth. As the health and safety of our team come first, we didn’t even consider risking it, based on past experiences we switched to home office mode instantly. A year and a half have passed since then, and despite most of the pandemic restrictions have been lifted since the beginning of summer, we did not want to risk anything until we weren’t sure everyone is vaccinated. But the big day arrived at the end of August - albeit only for the duration of a huge meal - we were back in the office!

The only weird thing was not only seeing the office and each other again for nearly a year and a half, but also saw some colleague face to face for the first time. It’s especially strange when you work with someone for 6 six months without meeting them in real life. Despite the situation we were on the same note quickly, chatting on the pleasantly cool yet sunny terrace (the sun came out just when we arrived!) telling stories to each other. Who went where in the summer, what plans are left, how the kids are and more. The first wave of conversation was then somewhat broken by the sound of food couriers, and so much pizza and donuts that would have been enough for a peace corp. After a short (30-60 minute) carbohydrate shock, we continued where we left off and spent an infinitely pleasant afternoon in each other’s company. Because no matter how smooth it is to work remotely, we are still social beings who feel best in a horde. And this is a damn good horde!
